Agree completely. I saw it at the awards and thought "meh" then played it and kept dragging my friends away from the conference to play it.

I would say Geow 1 was better than UC:DF mostly because UC didn't have multiplayer at the time. I would have called graphics a wash. UC had some nice effects, but I thought GeoW 1 looked crisper.
UC2 does look a lot better than GeoW2 though. I really hated how they went from a game where you really needed to be afraid of the dark to a game where there were almost no dark places at all. That alone would have changed the game tremendously.
People drastically underestimate how much bungie has done for out of game interaction. They really do a lot to get you in a fun game quickly. I made a video on it once. From turning on the 360 to the start of a match it was something like 1.5 minutes (including load times). It's a lot less when you've already been playing. It's a totally under-appreciated feature of a lot of games that do it right.
I really like what they're doing to promote both competitive and casual gamers.

does anyone know if the game loads in the background during cutscenes? I noticed they skip the cutscenes at different points in some of the cutscenes which might make the load times seem more/less different than they are
You have a misunderstanding of lag. If there were 20 seconds of lag, but the video playback was still 1:1 it would be unacceptable regardless of how well it tracked with the delayed video.
I AM NOT SAYING THE LAG IS THAT BAD, I am just using an extreme example to show what I mean.
Watching the gladiator demo at E3 there was noticeable lag, but nothing really game breaking by any means.

It doesn't even show FFXIII on his public trophies for me, so I can't verify what trophies he has.
What does this prove? That's the last story trophy you can get, so it's more evidence that he did complete the story than that he didn't. Am I missing something?

That is not full body by any means. If you watch when he leans the body doesn't change orientation at all. The system looks like a simple IK chain.
I'm actually anticipating natal more for it's non-game applications than in game applications. There's some cool game concepts that could be explored, but having the tech to be able to control your entertainment center without the need for remotes is truly awesome.
That's because the M$ "booth" you're talking about was actually a lounge upstairs. The Sony booth was a booth and actually in the expo hall.
By this time, all the developers that need to know about Natal do. Just because it's not out at trade shows doesn't mean microsoft isn't letting anyone know about it.
They did not show it at GDC. Not on the expo floor at least. They might have showed it in closed door sessions (I'm guessing they did), but there was nothing on the show floor remotely related to Natal.
Microsoft didn't even really have a product placement booth at GDC.

Sorry I'm not made of bucketloads of cash. It was either get a 360 and continue paying off my student loans on my perfectly acceptable SDTV, on which I can see everything I need to tell if I like a game, or I could get an HDTV and not have the electricity to run it or any games console in a couple months.

People without HDTVs are in n o way cheapskates. I play exclusively in SD. I just don't care about the extra pixels. 460 is plenty good for my needs. It has nothing to do with me being cheap. It has to do with me rather wanting to spend the $500-$2000 on something that will provide ME useful benefit for MY preferences.
Buy a private jet you cheapskates if you can afford to go on vacation you can afford a private jet.

DVD is hugely over exaggerated in the media and community. It's a design consideration, and as long as developers plan for it, they will be fine. The development community largely doesn't really care about the "limitations" of DVD, because they are barely even limitations.
I hadn't heard that this wasn't a PS3 exclusive anymore. I could care less about disks imo. Though I can see where some people might be upset.
And GTA4 may not have pushed the envelope graphically compared to every game, but compared to sandbox games, it's one of the best looking games ever. It also did a great job for story telling.
